The Instagram story campaign that generated over 31 Million reshares overnight, has been the final, largest, and most dehumanizing call for help from the people of Palestine. The War now entering its 8th month, has seen no signs of withdrawal but has magnified in a size out of anyone’s control. Despite the recent International Court of Justice condemnation, calling Israel to end all advancements and attacks on Rafah, Israel has launched a series of 60 air strikes in an area meant to be a peace zone for all those displaced from Gaza. The region is a camp, hosting more than 1 Million refugees forced out ofa Gaza, being the last safe zone in this war. Ever since the war broke out on October 7th, the death toll has reached 32,000 and has left more than 80,000 injured. Almost 80% of the Palestinian population has been left displaced, with mothers and children being the top victims.

The current innocent loss of life has been the result of a fire in a weapon’s store in Rafah that led to an explosion in an nearby refugee encampment. The attack had been carried out to flush out the last two remaining militants of the Hamas group hiding within refugee camps in the city. This missile attack alone has taken the lives of 45 Palestinians. Israel has denied further involvement even after 21 innocent civilians lost their lives in an airstrike in another humanitarian area. The war now reaching its final stages is moving towards “the total physical destruction of its part or its whole” as described in the ICJ ruling.

This attack comes after the negotiation talks agreed to by Hamas as well as Israeli officials in February where there was partial agreement on ceasefire truce talks. An official from Hamas has now confirmed that they would not be taking part in any further negotiations with their counterparts. Meanwhile Joe Biden in an earlier statement had claimed to negate military and weapon support to Israel in case of a worsened Humanitarian crisis in the region, but no action has been taken by the US nor the UK even after the arrest warrants posed by the International Criminal Court.

The fate of the people remains clear as continued military action in a zone of refugees has only one outcome - the end of the war with a loss of its opposition.
